Dublin Castle

In June/July 2014, we were asked to strip off old film on the Coach House (museum and arts centre) in Dublin Castle, and then replace it with a blackout film, so that they can control the lighting inside the building. Installing a black film to the outside of a glass panel is not recommended, due to the contraction and expansion of the film. We therefore used two films; The blackout film, to control the light, and an “external grade” silver film. This will protect the blackout film from the sun with it’s Hard-Coat SR coating, and repel the solar heat. This was all sealed in using an external sealant, so there were also no light gaps. Once finished, the roof lights looked like new, after having been cleaned off and new film applied.

It was an awkward job, as you can see from the pictures, but successful in all aspects. Installed June& July 2014, Films used: NRMM Matte Black, & RHE20 Helios External.
